F1 legend Brawn makes motorsport return with MotoGP role

Former F1 team boss and technical chief Ross Brawn has made a motorsport comeback by joining the Board of Directors at MotoGP outfit Pramac Racing.

Acting as Strategic Advisor to Team Principal Paolo Campinoti, Brawn will bring his wealth of experience in motorsport – and more specifically F1 – to the MotoGP world.

Brawn won several F1 Drivers’ and Teams’ Championship titles during stints with Benetton and Ferrari across the 1990s and early-2000s, before triumphing again at the helm of his own eponymous team in 2009.

Brawn GP then morphed into a works Mercedes effort, which he led as Team Principal until 2013, laying the foundations for their incredible run of seven Drivers’ and eight Teams’ titles through 2021.

From 2017 until 2022, Brawn served as Managing Director, Motor Sports and Technical Director for Formula One Management.

Speaking of his new chapter in MotoGP, 71-year-old Brawn said: “I’m delighted to join the board of Pramac Racing Limited in a non-executive role.

“Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful.

“Pramac has built an impressive organisation with a strong spirit and ambition and I’m excited to be part of its future.”

Campinoti added: “I am very proud to welcome Ross to Pramac Racing.

“Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, Ross is someone with whom I have shared a friendship and a relationship of great respect for many years.

“I believe that his vision, knowledge and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac Racing.”
