Round five of the season is done and dusted – with the 2026 F1 Canadian Grand Prix now officially in the books.
It was a thrilling weekend in Montreal – but did anyone do enough to earn a 10 in the driver ratings?
Who had a self-confessed “nightmare and worst weekend of my career”?

Top five
George Russell – 9.5
Almost perfect throughout the weekend. Sprint pole, Sprint win, grand prix pole, and was leading, having successfully pulled off an overtake on Antonelli for the lead. Not his fault the engine went bang. But locked up several times and ran wide, placing him back under immediate pressure from Antonelli. Not quite enough for perfect.
Lewis Hamilton – 9
His best weekend at Ferrari, and indeed, perhaps since he won the British GP for Mercedes in 2024. Comfortably had the pace over Leclerc and pulled off a vintage move on Verstappen for second late on. Something to build on now and use the momentum.
Franco Colapinto – 9
Three weeks on from his career-best result, a career-best performance. Had the measure of an out-of-sorts Gasly all weekend and is now delivering with three-point finishes in five races.
Max Verstappen – 8.5
Kept Hamilton honest late on after being passed, but was always going to be. No real standout moments, but consistently solid and there to pick up a podium when others, read McLaren and Russell’s engine, imploded.
Kimi Antonelli – 8
Lost his head at times, especially during the Sprint, but did well to harry Russell throughout both races, risking a crash to try to win. Within a tenth in both qualifying sessions, and now he has a 43-point buffer, can he tone things down just a bit?
Bottom five
Charles Leclerc – 5
By his own admission, he labelled the weekend a ” nightmare and the worst of his career” Never at one with the car he got more than he deserved with fourth place. One to forget in a hurry.
Lance Stroll – 5
Not much to say, on a messy weekend for Aston Martin overall, at least finished ahead of Valtteri Bottas’s Cadillac.
Fernando Alonso – 5
A rare error in SQ1 cost him a shot at SQ2, but much like his team, out of sorts and retired with a seat issue.
Alex Albon – 5
At least he racked up the air miles to Montreal. A wasted weekend after the groundhog strike in FP1 wasted Friday and 11 laps of the race after the Piastri smash. Anonymous in the Sprint.
Valtteri Bottas – 4.5
Unlucky to get final lap in SQ1 aborted on the run to flag after Alonso’s crash, but a step behind Perez all weekend.
