Liam Lawson will not take part in Sprint qualifying at the Canadian Grand Prix due to the damage sustained by his car during practice.
The New Zealander ground to a halt in the opening stages of practice in Montreal following a hydraulics issue, which caused Lawson to lose power steering.
Unfortunately, it took some time for Racing Bulls to recover Lawson’s car, hampering its efforts to diagnose and repair the problem before Sprint qualifying.
As Sprint qualifying approached, Lawson’s car remained in several pieces, crucially without a power unit or gearbox attached.
With Lawson missing Sprint qualifying, the field is reduced to 20 cars, as Alex Albon will also miss the session following his practice crash after hitting a marmot.
