Norris lamented not being able to watch Monday’s race as it clashed with his own commitments.
The Brit said he was in awe of the race and Rosenqvist for winning one of motorsport’s most prized trophies.
“I can’t image, in some ways, but I can imagine just how amazing it is for Felix right now,” said Norris.
“Obviously it’s the day after, but it’s just as special. The trophy just looks nuts. It’s crazy how big it is. It’s almost as big as Felix. It’s cool.
“I just love when you see the joy on someone’s face.
“I know how much goes into achieving something like that, how hard you’ve got to try, and even when you feel like you can drive perfectly here, sometimes it can still not be your day.
“You just need things to go right. Obviously he timed it to perfection by two hundredths of a second.”
Norris will continue his season on June 5-7 at the Monaco Grand Prix.
He sits fifth in the standings on 58 points. The drivers’ championship is led by Kimi Antonelli on 131 points with Mercedes teammate George Russell second on 88 points.
