Isack Hadjar has set his sights on challenging the front-runners at the Canadian Grand Prix as he looks to bounce back from a difficult weekend last time out in Miami.
Hadjar was forced to start the race from the back of the grid after his car failed post-qualifying technical checks.
As the Frenchman worked his way through the field in the opening laps, a mistake at Turn 14 sent him into the barrier.
The incident brought his race to an early end and left him furious in the immediate aftermath.
Almost two weeks later, the 21-year-old admitted he is still frustrated by the situation.
“I was just pissed off at myself, a lack of focus,” Hadjar told media including ApexF1News.
“Everything was going well before that. We had the right tyres on, overtaking was good.
“It was clear that we would end up in the points and I just wanted to go all in for that race.
“I started last, I was disqualified, I wanted to have fun, overtake and learn stuff and I couldn’t because I made a mistake, so I was really pissed.”
Hadjar has scored just one top 10 finish in the opening four rounds, leaving him 13th in the drivers’ championship.
With the sprint format returning this weekend, Hadjar will have only a single practice session to get up to speed as he aims to challenge closer to the front of the field.
“Both the team and we need to do better than what we did last weekend, because we’re off the pace,” he said.
“If we do so I just want to join the fight with the other guys. That’s the target this weekend.”
